Building Energy Standards

GET IN TOUCH

Through our expertise of various innovative building systems and technologies, we have earned the reputation of being at the forefront of low energy building from Dublin to Galway and the West of Ireland.

WHAT IS INCLUDED

Building Regulation Standard

The most recent changes to Part L of the building regulations came into effect in 2013, making it mandatory to reduce energy consumption of new builds and extensions by 60% of the 2008 standards. This is approximately equivalent to an A3 BER rating or a heat/primary energy?? demand of 60kWh/m2/year.

Mannion Passive House Builders built their first BER A rated house in 2007 as part of the House of Tomorrow initiative, long before most building contractors. Due to extensive experience and the verified performance of completed projects, Mannion Passive House Builders are ideal building contractors to build BER A rated houses to meet this standard. We have the expertise to design and size key components to deliver the most cost effective way to provide you with maximum comfort.

For further information, see 2013 Part L changes, and learn more about BER.

Low Energy

Ireland has made a commitment to implement regulations to drive standards towards nearly zero energy buildings by 2020.

If you want to future proof your home, at the same time improve comfort, reduce energy bills and improve value, Mannion Passive House Builder have the expertise to advise you, we can tailor a build solution for your home to exceed current building regulations, or even become energy positive!

Certified Passive House

Passive House or Passivhaus Standard, originated in Germany in the early 1990’s, it is a voluntary standard for ultra low energy building.

Mannion Passive House Builders have built 25% of the certified passive houses in Ireland as registered on the International Passive House Database.

A critical component at the design stage of a passive house is the use of PHPP software to predict the energy balance of the proposed building. A number of key components are critical for to achieve the energy performance targets of certification.

EnerPHit

EnerPHit is a quality assurance standard to verify achievement of an energy demand standard for existing buildings. EnerPHit Standard applies to projects undergoing extensive refurbishment that include the use of all components of a Passive House new build, see our FAQ section for further information.

Mannion Passive House Builders have extensive experience in the use of all components essential to the performance of Passive House and EnerPHit standard. This approach can lead to significant improvements in thermal comfort, economic efficiency, absence of structural damage and climate protection. See our projects for a completed EnerPhit project, which achieved a reduction in heat demand of over 80%.
